charrette.photo is the architectural and interior photography practice of Rob Culpepper.

Rob’s interest in architecture developed after a fellowship at the famed Rural Studio in West Alabama where he and two teammates designed and built a 916sf house (20K v.16 Michele’s House). In 2020-21, he worked on a book about southern architects with writer Barrett Austin. That project, Of Common Origin: New Architecture of the American South, can be found at bookstores and online.

He loves working with clients on human-scale projects where strong narrative threads pull the designers’ intent forward to delight both the eye and the spirit. He particularly likes the challenge of capturing projects of various types that reflect the creativity, vision, discipline, artfulness, and attention to detail that defines great design.

He lives with his wife, daughter, cat, and dog in Birmingham, AL and travels frequently to capture people and places of note. His portrait work, which features many architects, among others, can be found at robculpepper.com.
